چکیده

Beginning of the twentieth century, population growth, urbanization and industrialization has led to depletion of rapidly building areas. Accordingly, each passing day, the opening of the new construction sites has become mandatory. Among these newly opened areas, geotechnical aspects of construction from time to time in areas not suitable for construction and deployment was seen to improve the problematic soils have been noted. Improvement methods, intended to be both cheap hemde a sustainable method for improving the development and application of new methods and techniques have made it necessary. In short, the selection of a sustainable method of soil improvement is always a priority. Within this context, in recent years has increased rapidly observe the work on microbiological soil improvement method. Using biological agents like bacteria in soil and water pollution in eliminating biological, restoration of calcareous stones, concrete reinforcement, rail, road and wall stabilization, erosion and landslide control and can be used to prevent liquefaction. Soil improvement, especially carbonate deposition, which is very important in terms of geotechnical engineering, hydraulic conductivity and soil strength is observed is affected. Soil microbiology in improving the use of which is very important in terms of geotechnical engineering, hydraulic conductivity and soil strength is observed is affected. In this study, we presented a summary of research including biotechnology and ground improvement. Keywords— Soil improvement, microbiological, cementation of soil, calcium carbonate precipitation

Cementation of Sand Soil by Microbially Induced Calcite Precipitation at Various Degrees of Saturation

4 A newly emerging microbiological soil stabilization method, known as microbially 5 induced calcite precipitation (MICP), is tested for geotechnical engineering 6 applications. MICP is a promising technique that utilizes the metabolic pathways of 7 bacteria to form calcite precipitation throughout the soil matrix, leading to an increase 8 in soil strength and stiffness. This paper investigates...

Study of the Effect of Seismic Behavior of Twin Tunnels Position on Each Other

Excavation of shallow tunnels such as subways in urban areas plays a significant role as a life line and investigation of the soil behavior against tunnel construction is one of the vital subjects studied in the geotechnical scope. Nowadays, urban tunnels are mostly drilled by T.B.Ms and changing the applied forces to tunnel lining is one of the most risky matters while drilling tunnels by thes...

Effects of Ground Conditions on Microbial Cementation in Soils

The purpose of this study is to understand the effect of ground conditions on microbial cementation in cohesionless soils. Since the method of microbial cementation is still at the experimental stage, for its practical use in the field, a number of laboratory experiments are required for the quantification of microbial cementation under various ground conditions, such as relative densities, rel...

Evaluation of Compressive Strength and Stiffness of Grouted Soils by Using Elastic Waves

Cement grouted soils, which consist of particulate soil media and cementation agents, have been widely used for the improvement of the strength and stiffness of weak ground and for the prevention of the leakage of ground water. The strength, elastic modulus, and Poisson's ratio of grouted soils have been determined by classical destructive methods. However, the performance of grouted soils depe...
